My household
Shared money, without the end-of-month argument.
Some accounts are ours. Some are mine. The supermarket run is split once, the bill is recorded once, and nobody has to reconstruct who paid for what from a bank statement.
What each of you can see
Shared checking 3,000.00 (A). Private savings 5,000.00 (A). Shared checking 1,200.00 (B).
Viewer A
9,200.00
Both shared accounts, plus the private savings they own.
Viewer B
4,200.00
The shared accounts only. A’s private 5,000.00 never shows up.
Ours and mine, on the same books
The household view shows the money you are allowed to see. Your own view shows what you brought in and what you own. Neither one leaks the other person’s private balance.
Split once, settle once
A 120.00 supermarket run split down the middle is one 120.00 expense and a 60.00 debt between you — not two expenses making the month look twice as bad. Paying each other back settles the debt instead of inventing a new bill.
